  Vat Savitri Pooja is a significant Indian festival celebrated by married women in various parts of the country, mainly in North India. It is observed on the full moon day of Jyeshtha month, which falls in May or June. It is celebrated  on May 19 , 2023 . The celebration is a dedication to Goddess Savitri, who had saved her husband Satyavan from the clutches of Yama, the god of death, bearing all odds. Women on this day, wake up early in the morning and take a bath. They adorn themselves in new clothes and jewelry and perform the puja ritual in front of the Banyan tree (Vat Vriksha). They pray for the well-being and longevity of their husbands and offer ‘puja ki thali’ with various items such as fruits, sweets, and vermillion. The tradition also involves tying a sacred thread around the tree's trunk and taking seven rounds around it.
